AMY ERNST DOULA, LMT(NY)

Growing up in northeast Ohio, Amy was fortunate enough to grow up with a mom that didn’t have to work. Cookies, ballet recitals, story time at the library, and warm days at the park were a common occurrence. Her dad would read her bedtime stories, coach her soccer team and take her on daddy daughter dates. This made growing up with her 3 brothers a nurturing, educational, loving environment.

Life as a cook took Amy on some great adventures across the country. It was in NYC that she felt something more was needed in her life. She signed up for massage school determined to give it a full semester even if it wasn’t for her. She hasn’t looked back since. The more she learned, the more she wanted to know. In her first term she did a report on integrating massage into being a doula and lightning struck. From that moment forward almost every report and project involved learning more about pregnancy, birth and being a mother raising a newborn. For her elective she took prenatal massage and is now certified in Ma Massage. She has been trained as a birth doula and is looking forward to grow her practice help keep birth a beautiful, natural process where the family is educated and well informed of the process and all the possibilities.

Amy’s philosophy in birth is that, the body being such a wonder in all it’s natural ability, to let the person giving birth take the lead in the delivery working with the doctors or midwife as a team. To give them the knowledge, strength, encouragement and support that empowers them to deliver their child and cope with any unexpected changes to the birth plan.

Constantly striving to broaden her knowledge, Amy is always reading and keeping up to date on the latest research and techniques to make sure every family has an experience that is tailored to them. She also has attended Lynn Schulte’s Birth healing Summit in 2019 and 2020 learning from other professional around the world. To help give back, Amy volunteers in the postpartum unit and pediatric ICU at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
