FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONED

General Massage Questions

-Do I have to get completely naked?

No. You can get undressed to the level of your comfort. If you choose to get completely undressed or just leave your underwear on, there will be a sheet to cover the parts of the body that are not being worked on.

-What if I don’t want them to use oil?

That is fine. There is a lot we can do without it. It does become more of a slow paced massage but the benefits will not be minimized.

-I’m not comfortable with the way my body looks. I think I will be too self conscious to enjoy the massage.

Your therapist has worked on every shape and size body you can imagine. There are muscular people who like light pressure and slender people who prefer the deepest pressure possible. Everyone is different with there own likes and dislikes and that’s what makes this world such a wonderful place. There is no judgement in a treatment room.

-I forgot to shave today. Will my therapist care?

Absolutely not!. A leg is a leg, male or female, hairy or smooth. We may have to use more oil to allow our hands to glide without pulling hair out but the massage will feel no different to you.

-I am very sensitive on my (insert body part) and I don’t want to be touched there. Does the therapist have to massage there?

No. If you do not want to be touched on a certain part of you for whatever reason, it does not need to happen. Unfortunately, if your issue is on or very close to that part it will limit somethings we can do but you holding tension because you are uncomfortable does more harm than good.

-I have sensitive skin and I want to bring my own oil. Can I?

This is at the therapist discretion. If something has a strong fragrance, they may say no. It could linger on their hands and in the room and cause allergies or an unpleasant environment for the next client. Most spa’s and therapist use the most hypoallergenic products on the market to ensure it’s safe for everyone.

Prenatal Massage Question

-What exactly does a prenatal massage include?

The massage is done in side lying from the left side to the right side. There will be pillows to help support your legs, head, and one for you to hug like a teddy bear. Your therapist will massage your back, arms, neck and shoulders as usual. They will also gently massage your belly if you are comfortable with it and help create space in your ribcage for deeper breaths. They will also work around your hips bones to help give them some relief.

-Are prenatal massages just for people expecting?

No. Anyone is welcome to get one. The side lying position is great for people that find lying on their back or stomach uncomfortable. It's great for people that need detailed shoulder work because it gives the therapist 360 degrees of access to your shoulder.  It is also great for postpartum no matter how long it has been since your baby was born.

-Why won’t the therapist work deep on my legs?

One of the common concerns with pregnancy is DVT (deep vein thrombosis). We want to encourage lymph and blood to circulate back up the legs gently without disturbing any other under lying issues.
